Following the popularity of our mixed vegetable boxes last year we have put together some more this year for those of you who would like to try growing your own! 🥦🥕🌽

They contain a selection of 28 mixed veg seedlings in approx 5cm pots for just £15 and could be a variety of things that are ready at the moment like garlic, onions, broccoli, mange-tout, leeks and herbs. Other less hardy vegetables have been sown but are not ready for sale just yet - we will keep you updated when these are available.
When you take your seedlings home you will need to keep them somewhere frost free with good light and ventilation. This could be a greenhouse, porch or covered outdoor area where, in the next couple of weeks, you can get them hardened off by putting outside during the day and bringing in at night until these frosty nights have passed! ⛅️

Vegetables can be grown in containers, the ground, even window boxes or bags for life! You don't need fancy equipment, just have fun and get creative! We have a selection of second hand containers available if you need them too.

Just give us a call on 01475 744516 or pop in Mon-Fri 9.30-3.30

Parklea is now closed for the Easter holiday weekend from Friday 2nd April to Monday 5th April inclusive.

Government restrictions are easing, allowing garden centres to re-open from April 5th but we ask if you could bear with us for a few days longer to allow us to put things in place so that we can open safely.
With the building work for our redevelopment still ongoing, we need to ensure that the safety of our clients and customers is paramount. We hope to have things in place by the end of next week and will keep you updated on progress. Thank you for bearing with us!

Wishing everyone a very Happy Easter, from all the Team at Parklea 🐰🐥🌷

Today (1st April 2021) is National Autism Awareness Day. This year Inverclyde HSCP has decided to keep it blue by requesting that their staff and partners wear blue to mark the occasion .

PBO’s mission has always been to support individuals in fulfilling their complete potential. Working with Inverclyde HSCP and other partners we continue to work together to raise awareness, break the myths and showcase the positive side of living with autism.

We continue to do our best to improve and add value to people’s lives and are proud to be supporting National Autism Awareness Day.

For the last two years we have been working in partnership with Canny Cycling as well as a host of other organisations, offering All Ability Cycling sessions to our clients as well as others within the local community with a who wish to take Part.

At PBO we believe that cycling (as well as other activities) should be accessible and possible for everyone, regardless of their disability.

While the sessions have been slightly restricted in the past year due to Covid-19 we have still managed to make these sessions a possibility with clients still showing an interest in taking part.

Last year we were awarded funding from The Energy Saving Trust, which has allowed us to purchase two accessible e-bikes which has opened up the number of people who are able to take part considerably.

While we are still awaiting delivery, these bikes will enable wheelchair users to also take part in the sessions, meaning that no one who wants to take part in these sessions will be left behind.

The photos below were taken at the start of the year once the cycling sessions were able to recommence after the Christmas break.

Visited our pals at Park Lea Branching Out today to pickup our propagated beans, brussels, spinach, beetroot, radish, kale and kohl rabi trays. Massive thankyou to the team at @AdminParklea , an amazing job and great example of charities collaborating across Inverclyde.

.
Because of the exciting work going on building our new community greenhouse we have erected barriers sectioning off areas that are not accessible to the public to keep staff, clients and visitors safe 😊
.
We have had some fun signs printed by our really helpful local printer @loveandhumphries to explain what is happening and also to gently remind everyone which areas are out of bounds! ⛔⚠️🚷
.
When you come down you are welcome to go up to the fence and see the progress of our greenhouse and take a look at our lovely clients photos, we just ask you to not go any further.
.
Also we ask that you only use the main entrance by the cabins and not the side gate. Our clients are working in and around the glasshouses at this end of the site and we are helping to keep them safe by reducing customer contact this year. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding 💗

We are almost ready to announce plans for Spring 2 We are almost ready to announce plans for Spring 2021 plant sales, but before we do we just want to tell you what your support means to us! 💛
We have mentioned before that our plant sales support our social enterprising activities. This means that all the money that comes in to Parklea goes directly into the day to day running of our project, providing meaningful activities, giving access to training and employment, as well as improving our community.
.
Your continued support is now helping us begin to secure our long term vision for the future of the Parklea site, starting with the new community greenhouse being built in conjunction with funding from the Climate Challenge Asset Fund. The foundations are in and the brick work will be starting shortly!
.
We would like to acknowledge the support from our design team @collectivearchitecture and AC Banks greenhouse contractor and also thank @ibstockbrick for their kind donation of over 7,000 bricks.
.
This is just the beginning of our long term plans, over a series of phases, to redevelop our project site here at Parklea. Some of the existing facilities are requiring major upgrades to accommodate the ever changing needs of our clients and allow us to support our wider community in the best way possible for many years to come!
.
It's an exciting time for all of us here at Parklea to see our dreams and visions implemented and as valued customers you play a really important part in this. We do appreciate you choosing to support us as a small local charity - it sounds a cliché but every penny you spend and every plant you buy really does count! Thank you! 🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴

.
Obviously Summer is a wee way off at the moment and we have no idea what the restrictions will be like come May, but we are going ahead with our seed sowing programme as usual 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱
.
At the moment we are planning our Spring boxes which will be available in a few weeks time. We will let you know details soon, but are working on it being the same situation as last year with 'click & collect" and home deliveries available 🚚 🌷🪴
